How to Fish all fish — Complete 49-Creature Guide
Track all 49 base creatures with their required rods and bait, boss catches, naming aliases, and the separate Drip variant collection.
Last updated:
To catch everything, work through the island bait tiers and the ten Boss or special encounters, then verify all 49 base creatures in the current in-game Tab encyclopedia. Collector requires each base creature to be found, caught, and killed. Fishipedia also tracks the Drip variant associated with each base creature, so a 49/49 base list alone is not full Drip completion. Keep separate checklists for ordinary catches, Bosses, and Drip variants.
How to use this checklist
Start with the bait sold or awarded during each island's progression, but do not assume every ordinary species is permanently locked to the island where its bait first appears. The source notes that later travel can still produce a species once its required bait is unlocked. Because bait pools, values, and health can change between patches, use the current Tab encyclopedia as the final authority.
Mark a base creature only after you have completed every action required by Collector. Track its Drip version in a second column instead of replacing the ordinary entry. This prevents a complete 49-creature base list from being mistaken for a complete Fishipedia.
Bosses and special creatures
These ten encounters are part of the 49-creature total, but their bait or trigger is different from an ordinary lure cycle. Story items and captured creatures used as bait should stay separate in your inventory plan. Do not record a large story creature as if it were a normal small-fish catch.
- Lighthouse: Spider Crab — Empty Beer Can.
- Island 2 Forest: Giant Piranha — Modified Leech; The Old Pike — Beginner Boss Lure.
- Island 3 Desert: Blue Shark — Standard Boss Lure; Pufferfish — Carrot.
- Island 4 Rocks: Tuna — Professional Boss Lure; Albatross — Tuna.
- Island 5 Volcano: Goblin Shark — Scientific Boss Lure; Bowhead Whale — Fish Bucket; Mutated Bowhead Whale — Bowhead Whale.
Lighthouse catches
The early Lighthouse catches use the Crab Fishing Rod, and the source preserves two separate Rock Crab records. Keep both records because they document different bait results rather than a duplicate species count. Ham also fills two gaps in the broader bait cross-check.
- Rock Crab — Crab Fishing Rod + Free Lure.
- Shrimp — Crab Fishing Rod + Free Lure.
- Rock Crab — Crab Fishing Rod + Hot Dog.
- Lobster — Crab Fishing Rod + Hot Dog.
- Brown Crab — Ham.
- Shrimp — Ham.
Rock Crab still counts as one base creature even though it has two documented bait rows. Shrimp likewise remains one checklist entry despite appearing with Free Lure and Ham. The rows are catch methods, while the 49-creature list counts unique base entries.
Island 2 Forest catches
Forest progression mixes the Crab Fishing Rod, the Fishing Rod, and Beginner-tier bait. The bait cross-check adds Goby and Sunfish to Beginner Lure and gives French Fry alternatives for Mackerel, Gar, and Pike. Sunfish also appears in the Beginner Boss Lure mini-Boss pool, but it remains one base creature.
- Piranha — Crab Fishing Rod + Hot Dog.
- Mackerel and Gar — Fishing Rod + Free Lure.
- Pike, Cod, Goldfish, Perch, and Triggerfish — Fishing Rod + Beginner Lure.
- Goby and Sunfish — Beginner Lure.
- Mackerel, Gar, and Pike — French Fry.
- Sunfish — also documented in the Beginner Boss Lure mini-Boss pool.
Use the live encyclopedia to confirm which Forest entries still need a find, catch, or kill action. Alternative bait records do not create additional species. They only give you another supported way to target an existing checklist entry.
Island 3 Desert catches
Standard Lure covers the Desert tier in the source material. The ten base entries below use the complete checklist's names, with Yellow Boxfish also appearing as Boxfish in another table. Treat those two labels as one creature rather than two.
- Angelfish
- Bowlfish
- Catfish
- Sea Urchin
- Seahorse
- Clownfish
- Bluegill
- Salmon
- Needlefish
- Yellow Boxfish / Boxfish
A gameplay record shows Needlefish, Catfish, Seahorse, and Sea Urchin during Desert collection, but those observations do not replace the formal checklist. Use Standard Lure and compare every result with the Tab encyclopedia. Do not infer a fixed rate or value from a video encounter.
Island 4 Rocks catches
Professional Lure covers the Rocks tier. One table writes Voxel Fish while another writes Voxelfish, and both names refer to the same base entry. The ten Rocks creatures are listed below without creating an extra alias entry.
- Parrotfish
- Voxel Fish / Voxelfish
- Bass
- Halibut
- Eel
- Tigerfish
- Flying Fish
- Sengarat
- Red Snapper
- Dripper
Tuna and Albatross belong in the special-encounter list instead of this ordinary Professional Lure group. Tuna is caught with Professional Boss Lure, then the captured Tuna is used to summon Albatross. Keeping that sequence separate avoids counting either creature twice.
Island 5 Volcano catches
Scientific Lure covers the five smaller Volcano creatures. The scientist route collects these local creatures before producing the bait needed for a large whale encounter. Scientific Lure and Scientific Boss Lure therefore belong to different tracking rows.
- Anglerfish
- Blobfish
- Oarfish
- Superdwarf Fish
- Stonefish
Bowhead Whale, Mutated Bowhead Whale, and Goblin Shark stay in the special list above. The whale sequence uses Fish Bucket and then the captured Bowhead Whale, while Goblin Shark uses Scientific Boss Lure. Do not turn those triggers into an unsupported ordinary-lure rule.
Final 49-creature completion check
The complete base roster is the 39 ordinary creatures across the bait tiers plus the ten Boss or special encounters. Naming variants do not increase the total, and repeated bait rows do not increase it either. Collector is complete only when the game records every base creature as found, caught, and killed.
Fishipedia adds a separate Drip requirement, as shown by gameplay where a Drip Mackerel or Drip Rock Crab is checked apart from the ordinary version. Keep uncertain acceptance behavior separate from the creature checklist because an NPC may respond to another task tag, such as Endangered, or to version-specific rules. To be confirmed: current bait pools, values, health, and any changed encyclopedia labels should be checked directly in the current build.
